Back Up Wallets as ICONex Discontinues Service

ICONex Discontinuation (1)

TL;DR

Full Story

The ICONex desktop wallet, handled through its chrome extension, will soon discontinue services. We expect an update to Chrome in early October that will not be supported by ICONex. This will prevent users from accessing their ICONex wallet and we advise its remaining users to backup their wallets as soon as possible, migrating to Hana Wallet.

Back Up Wallets and Migrate to Hana

Last year we announced the sunsetting of ICONex mobile and My ICON Wallets, alongside advice to migrate to Hana Wallet. With the upcoming changes to chromium browsers, ICONex’s desktop wallet will also no longer be supported. This support will cease as soon as browsers update and so we advise users to backup and migrate their wallets/assets as soon as possible.

Those still using ICONex or My ICON Wallets should migrate to Hana wallet to ensure continued support in the future. You can install Hana for Chrome, iOS or Android to set up your Hana account and create a new wallet address. You can then either transfer assets from ICONex to your new Hana wallet or migrate the wallet entirely with a backup. Find information on how to backup an ICONex wallet here and visit the Hana support center for guidance on migrating existing wallets to Hana.

Users wishing to stake their ICX and sign transactions on the ICON blockchain will be able to continue doing so with Hana wallet, while also benefiting from the application’s growing cross-chain swap features alongside Balanced.

Bonding via the Tracker

For those using ICONex to manage validator bonds, you can continue to do this through the icon.community tracker by logging in with your Hana wallet. Simply navigate to your wallet on the tracker, login via the icon in the top right, and then adjust your bond via the ‘Update’ button under your wallets ‘Bonded’ tab. You will only be able to bond ICX that has been staked but not voted - with a new UI for staking, voting and bonding expected to improve the experience for this before ICONex is discontinued.
